Healthy Eating Tips

Whether you’re just getting started or have been on the road to wellness for years, these simple tips can make a significant difference to the health of your entire family.

There are vastly different levels of where you can take the concept of “healthy eating”.  Getting started could be as simple as eating a large, fresh salad every day or making a superfood smoothie.  Growing scientific evidence shows that a plant-based diet is the healthier option and this does not mean we have to sacrifice our protein intake.  Sadly, all over the world, we have been convinced that good protein only comes from animal.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Many plant-source foods have much greater protein compared to cow, chicken or pig.  Please see list below.  Plant proteins are much easier to digest and don’t deposit large amounts of acid as in animal protein.

what about milk? 

Again we have been duped into the notion that pasteurized cow’s milk provides calcium for healthy bones.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Studies around the world clearly show the opposite and there are many factual books on the subject.  Additionally, cow’s milk is mucous promoting and sets the stage for ear infections and digestive stress in children and adults.  Cow’s milk spells trouble for asthmatics and is commonly contaminated with hormones, antibiotics and numerous other super-toxins.  There are several healthy, tasty milk alternatives such as Hemp milk, Almond milk and Rice milk.  Soy milk has its own set of problems including xeno-estrogens and GMO contamination.

Microwave Oven.  This is a device that has no place in the home, or anywhere.  Scientists concur that by spinning the electrons of molecules in the opposite direction, compared to how they spin naturally, to generate heat, damages the DNA of the food which in turn damages DNA of human cells.  Mothers have been lead to believe that it’s ok to microwave soy infant formula and cows milk.  These babies are clearly in distress.  On the positive side of all this, it is amazing how children quickly respond to simple superfoods and the elimination of the use of a microwave oven.  Animal products, dairy and soy are perhaps the first items to eliminate from infant and toddler’s diets.  I have seen infants been given soda and fries.

Any food cooked in any kind of oil is a burden on the liver and immune system.  Essential fatty acids (healthy fats) are best in their whole-food form such as avocados, raw nuts, raw seeds and whole olives.  Refined oils are more difficult to digest and present possible complications for normal sugar metabolism.
Work to eliminate or reduce processed oils and fats.

Choose foods that are rich in micronutrients when compared to their caloric content.  Micronutrients included vitamins, minerals (including raw, unheated salt), antioxidants, bioflavonoids and other phytochemicals.   For those who eat meat, chicken, etc.  strive for the majority of your meals be focused on vegetables, whole-grains like brown rice and quinoa, fruit, raw nuts, raw seeds and legumes.

Sweeten with Honey.  Eliminate artificial sweeteners.  Raw, unheated honey has more enzymes than any other food!

Salt is a critically important nutrient, especially for children.  It is necessary for normal heart rhythm, adrenal function, digestion, pH balance and it is a key electrolyte for the entire nervous system.
Common table salt is a problem because it’s highly heated and usually contains toxic flowing agents and other chemicals.  This is the stuff that doctors tell people to avoid.  However, if we eliminate the essential, raw, unheated sea salt from our diet, we can expect a myriad of health problems.

Drink plenty of purified water and/or coconut water.

All raw nuts (except peanuts) are an excellent source of minerals, proteins and other nutrients.

Best protein sources include Hemp protein powder, Blue Green Algae, Chlorella, Spirulina, Wheat grass, Barley grass, Oat grass

Never use a microwave oven. Never cook any oil. Cook in water if you must.  Never use artificial sweeteners. Eliminate packaged foods when ever possible.
